Man’s Memoirs Reveal Mother Made Him A Flower-Girl


When he was five-years-old in 1879, Isaac Kempner, who later owned the Imperial Sugar Company, was living with his family in Galveston, Texas. At his uncle’s wedding “to the most beautiful girl in all of Texas”, Isaac’s mother made him a “flower-girl” at the ceremony. Like clockwork – his friends then got the news:
